Smart Shopper Magazine was founded and incorporated in June 1990. Initially a start-up without employees, the goal was to prove that traditional cooperative direct mail could be enhanced with:
1990 - First issues premier in Pikesville/Owings Mills, with a combined circulation of 30,000, each 20 pages, Smart Shopper was up and running.
1991 - Smart Shopper launches in the Towson/York Road corridor.
1994 - The company relocates its office to Pikesville, builds sales team, and premiers Howard County edition.
1995 - Five times per year publishing cycle, circulation increased.
2002 - Anne Arundel edition began, targeting high-end homes in the Annapolis area.
2004 - Smart Shopper upgrades to full color pages and matte stock covers giving the publication an updated look and feel.
2005 - Income qualifications on household distribution, making Smart Shopper Magazine the area's most upscale direct mail publication, and among the most upscale publications of any genre in the market.
2006 - New logo and cover design with an emphasis on better shopping where you live.
2008 - Publish six times per year with the addition of early fall.
